BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Meteorology officials said temperatures across cities in Iraq's northern Kurdistan region are forecast to ease toward the upper 30s Celsius on Wednesday, falling slightly below seasonal norms. The brief relief comes as summer heat moderates in the north, while central areas including Baghdad will continue to face high temperatures, with humidity making conditions feel more oppressive.
In southern cities, temperatures are expected to remain above 40 degrees Celsius, and light winds are forecast nationwide. Authorities urged residents to drink plenty of fluids and avoid outdoor exposure during peak sun hours, particularly those spending long periods in direct sunlight.
The Health Ministry said it expects emergency-room visits to rise due to the heat and called on people with chronic conditions to take precautions. No further operational details were immediately provided.
