BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraq's General Directorate of Meteorology forecast clear, sunny conditions across the country on Friday, June 19, 2026, with summer heat persisting through the daytime and peaking around midday. The agency said temperatures would remain near 50°C in many areas, with slightly milder conditions in the early morning and overnight hours.
Authorities urged the public to avoid direct sun exposure during peak hours, drink sufficient water, and take measures to protect elderly people and children from the effects of the heat. The directorate recommended postponing non-essential outdoor activities around midday, when temperatures are expected to approach the 50-degree mark.
Officials also called on drivers to avoid leaving flammable materials inside vehicles and to use air conditioning with care. No additional heat-related guidance was issued by other agencies in the forecast notice.
