Iraq Stars League second week to feature four matches on Thursday

BAGHDAD, Iraq — The Iraqi Stars League 2026-2027 season continues Thursday with four second-week fixtures across the country, where 20 clubs are competing. Naft Maysan faces Naft at Maysan Stadium at 6:30 p.m. local time, while Gaz al-Shimal meets Kahraba at the same hour at Newroz Stadium in Sulaymaniyah. At 9:00 p.m., southern side Al-Julan hosts Baghdad Karkh at Al-Julan Stadium in Anbar. The day's final match pits Al-Mina against Zakho at Al-Mina Stadium in Basra at 9:00 p.m. Second-week games are scheduled over three days at stadiums in Baghdad and other cities. Erbil finished the opening week top of the standings with three points, ahead of Naft on goal difference, with Diyala third and Zakho fourth. Newroz, Quwa al-Jawiyya, Duhok, G'irat, Al-Shorta, Karbala, Karma, Mosul, Naft Maysan, Al-Julan, Al-Zawraa, Al-Mina, Al-Talaba, Gaz al-Shimal, Karkh and Kahraba were separated by goal difference, with the bottom three clubs yet to pick up points. A standout opening-week result saw Newroz and Quwa al-Jawiyya draw 3-3 in Sulaymaniyah.
