An Iraqi official said a senior security delegation will soon travel to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to gather intelligence on the routes and points of origin of attacks targeting the two countries. The move comes as part of an investigative commission formed to examine the ongoing attack case.
The delegation will hold contacts aimed at collecting information that could help identify where the attacks were launched and how they were carried out. The investigative team is also expected to use radar maps and other evidence to track the responsible parties.
The commission will continue its work as part of the wider inquiry into the attacks, which has taken on added political and security importance for Baghdad. Once its work is complete, it will submit its final report to the prime minister.
The Iraqi government had previously said it would take all necessary steps if it is established that Iraqi territory was used in the attacks.
