Saudi-led coalition strikes Houthi targets in Hodeida, coalition says

TEHRAN, Iran — RIYADH — The Saudi-led coalition said it struck Houthi military positions in Hodeida, Yemen, on Wednesday, saying the targets were linked to threats against commercial shipping in the Red Sea. Coalition officials said the port of Hodeida was not hit and that all ports in the city remained open to maritime traffic. Houthi-controlled media outlets reported four Saudi airstrikes in Hodeida, saying they hit facilities belonging to the telecommunications authority, the port and Kamaran Island. The Houthis said they had closed the Bab al-Mandab Strait to Saudi vessels but had not halted maritime traffic altogether. Bahrain's Interior Ministry said sirens sounded in response to an attack originating from Iran and urged citizens and residents to remain calm and move to the nearest safe location. U.S. President Donald Trump said responsibility for any new Houthi attacks launched from Yemen would rest with Iran and warned of a heavy military response against Tehran and the Houthis.
