BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraq's National Security Council convened in an emergency session Monday, chaired by Prime Minister and Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Ali Falih ez-Zeydi.
The meeting addressed potential repercussions of current regional developments and reviewed preventive plans aimed at preserving internal stability, according to a written statement by Armed Forces Spokesperson Sabah en-Numan.
Council members emphasized the protection of national sovereignty, the centralization of weapons under state control, and accountability for those who undermine security. They also reiterated their firm opposition to Iraqi territory or airspace being used for attacks against neighboring countries.
Ez-Zeydi noted that regional stability positively affects Iraq's stability, adding that he issued directives and decisions enabling rapid response capabilities.
