Iraq says Gulf states are central to Arab stability

Iraq’s Foreign Ministry marked the 45th anniversary of the Gulf Cooperation Council by highlighting the importance of security and cooperation in the region. In a message on the occasion, it stressed the deep ties in the Arab world and a shared destiny. The ministry praised the central role played by the council’s member states in establishing security and stability in the region and in expanding cooperation. It said the security of the Gulf is a direct extension of Iraq’s national and regional security. It called for strengthening regional partnerships and uniting efforts to confront common challenges. Iraq also said it wants to broaden areas of cooperation with Gulf states to support stability and sustainable development. The ministry said dialogue and mutual understanding are the main path to preserving regional security and building a shared future. It added that Iraq aims to continue developing its strategic partnership with Gulf countries in line with regional development and security goals.
