BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Ziyadi is expected to address a potential increase of Iraqi oil exports to the United States by 500,000 barrels per day during an upcoming visit to Washington, according to a government source. Talks will also cover establishing partnerships with American companies and addressing domestic challenges in electricity, industry and agriculture.
The source said the proposed partnerships would follow a set timetable and financial plan, with oil revenues directed toward financing economic, service and tourism projects. Agreements reached during the visit are intended to support the government's program, the source added, noting that investment steps would require approval from all political partners.
Al-Ziyadi announced on Saturday that he would undertake an official visit to Washington, accompanied by a delegation of business figures. The agenda will also include a Development Fund for the private sector, backed by a $10 billion contribution from the Central Bank, according to the source.
Further details on the agreements under negotiation were not immediately available.
