BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraq's Ministry of Interior is preparing plans to take over the internal security file in Mosul, the ministry's undersecretary, Hussein al-Awadi, said at a joint press conference with Nineveh Governor Abdulqadir al-Dahil at the governorate headquarters on Monday. Al-Awadi said coordination between the local government and the ministry was having a positive impact on strengthening security stability in the city.
During the press conference, officials also announced the opening of the Civil Status and Citizenship Directorate building on Mosul's right bank after renovation work was completed. The building has been equipped with the necessary equipment to improve the quality of services provided to citizens, according to the statement.
Governor al-Dahil had earlier received the undersecretary and a accompanying military delegation, with discussions covering the transfer of security responsibility to federal institutions and steps to improve the performance of local security units. Recent improvements in security conditions in the city were also reviewed during the meeting.
