BAGHDAD, Iraq โ€” Acting Iraqi Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Abdulhussein al-Musawi has authorized universities, colleges and institutes to review master's degree admission results. According to a statement from the Government Information and Communications Department, governing boards of institutions not affiliated with any university may award additional points to candidates who scored between 40 and 44 on the competitive entrance examination. The statement said the supplementary points cannot exceed five and may only be applied to unfilled seats within the approved admission plan. The decision is intended to allow more candidates to be placed in vacant slots, with placements handled according to the highest differentiation rate. The ministry ordered the review process to be completed within three days of the notification date, with all educational institutions required to report their results back to the ministry. University admission orders are to be issued immediately after the process concludes, in line with the established rules. No further details were immediately available on how many institutions or candidates the measure would affect.
