Iraq's chicken meat and egg production declined in 2025, statistics agency says

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraq's chicken meat and table egg production fell in 2025 compared with the previous year, according to the Central Statistical Organization's 2025 Poultry Report. The data covers all of Iraq except the Kurdistan Region. Live chicken meat production totaled about 163,500 tonnes in 2025, down 8.3% from 178,300 tonnes in 2024. Table egg output also declined, falling roughly 18.8% to about 4.31 billion eggs from 5.31 billion in 2024. The report placed 2025 chicken meat production within a multi-year range that included 156,500 tonnes in 2020, 144,700 tonnes in 2021, 162,500 tonnes in 2022 and 172,300 tonnes in 2023, before peaking at 178,300 tonnes in 2024. Table egg production followed a different trajectory, rising from 1.12 billion eggs in 2020 to 5.01 billion in 2022 and 4.78 billion in 2023, then climbing to 5.31 billion in 2024 before the 2025 decline.
