Fire near Tuzhurmatu power plant extinguished, no outages reported

TUZHURMATU, Iraq — A large fire broke out Saturday evening near a power plant in the Tuzhurmatu district of Saladin province, east of the city, local sources said. Firefighters were placed on high alert and worked to prevent the flames from reaching the plant's facilities. According to local sources, the fire started in open areas surrounding the plant, with flames and heavy smoke spreading across a wide zone. Fire crews reached the site and brought the blaze under control after hours of work. The flames did not reach the plant's facilities, and electricity supply was not disrupted, the sources said. No casualties were reported. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
