ANBAR, Iraq โ€” Iraq's crude oil shipments to the United States partially resumed last week, reaching approximately 43,000 barrels per day after completely stopping the previous week, according to U.S. Energy Information Administration data. The figure places Iraq far behind Canada, which remains the largest foreign oil supplier to the U.S. market at 3.67 million barrels per day. Venezuela followed with 568,000 barrels, Brazil with 414,000, Mexico with 323,000, Ecuador with 300,000, Saudi Arabia with 283,000 and Colombia with 167,000 barrels. Iraq ranked ninth among foreign suppliers to the U.S., ahead of Nigeria at 23,000 barrels and Libya at 8,000 barrels daily. Iraq's weekly oil exports to the U.S. have shown volatility in recent months. Shipments reached 195,000 barrels in late April before declining to 67,000 barrels in the third week of May. The United States, as the world's largest oil consumer, burns through more than 20 million barrels per day.
