BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraq's Civil Defense Directorate said a fire that broke out in a medical school dormitory in Anbar province has been brought under control. In a statement, the directorate said its teams responded to the blaze at the internal dormitories of the medical group affiliated with Anbar University and fully extinguished the flames.
More than 50 students of various nationalities were safely evacuated from the building, according to the directorate. Officials said the fire was contained before it could spread to other sections of the facility or nearby buildings, and no casualties or injuries were reported.
The Civil Defense Directorate said the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit. It added that firefighting teams have completed their operations at the site.
