BAGHDAD, Iraq โ€” The Iraqi Prime Minister's Office issued a divani order on June 9, 2026, reshuffling several senior positions at the Ministry of Finance, including reassigning the head of the National Retirement Authority. Ali Kareem Hussein was named Finance Ministry undersecretary, in a decision based on a ministry request and approved by the prime minister, according to Prime Minister's Office documents. Under the same order, Mahir Hussein Rashid, who headed the National Retirement Authority, was appointed as an adviser at the Martyrs' Authority. Abdulkareem Jamal Abdullah, previously a Martyrs' Authority adviser, was transferred to an advisory role at the Finance Ministry, ending the tenure of Ziad Shakir al-Attar in the same post. The order formally ended the advisory appointment of Ziad Shakir al-Attar at the Finance Ministry. It also reassigned another adviser, Abdulkareem Jamal Abdullah, from the Martyrs' Authority to a Finance Ministry advisory post, reversing an earlier termination of his prior role at the ministry. The decree took effect on June 9, 2026.
