SHARQAT, Iraq โ The first case of hemorrhagic fever has been confirmed in Sharqat district, Saladin province, the local administrator said. District Governor Tariq Hamid Ibrahim announced that all butcher shops in the district have been temporarily closed on the recommendation of a central committee.
Ibrahim said the restrictions will be lifted once field teams complete disinfection operations. Under the order, the entry and exit of cattle and small livestock into the district has been banned for two weeks. The official described the measures as part of a preventive plan to contain new cases.
Residents have been asked to report any suspected cases to the authorities. Hemorrhagic fever is a viral disease transmitted from animals to humans, with severe cases marked by high fever, muscle pain and internal bleeding. No further details were immediately available.
