BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraq's Environment Ministry has ordered all private and public generators across the country to install emissions filters within six months, according to Minister Soraya Abdulvahid.
The directive, which takes effect immediately, aims to reduce gas emissions from the widespread generator systems that supplement power grids throughout Iraq. The ministry will establish a monitoring committee to oversee compliance.
Businesses that fail to install the required filters by the end of the six-month period will face legal penalties. The ministry stated it will pursue strict legal action against individuals and institutions that do not meet the requirements.
The announcement did not specify penalties or provide further details on enforcement mechanisms.
