BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraq’s Communications Minister Mustafa Sind has ordered a 40% price reduction on internet services provided to all government institutions, according to a written statement from the minister. The directive requires current capacities to be maintained while lowering prices, and applies to all state departments, the statement said. In areas without fiber service, internet speed provided through towers will be increased by 40%, while prices will remain at current levels, according to the statement. Sind said internet service providers are required to comply with the ministry’s policy, with two packages available for tower-based services and four packages for fiber subscriptions. The measures are set to be reviewed at an Advisory Council meeting scheduled for Monday, the statement added.
