Iraq opens registration for West Asia artistic gymnastics clubs championship

BAGHDAD, Iraq — The Iraqi Gymnastics Federation has opened registration for Iraqi clubs to compete in the West Asia Artistic Gymnastics Clubs Championship, the federation said Tuesday. Federation board member Haydar Muhsin al-Yasiri said the call for entries follows an official invitation from the West Asian Gymnastics Federation. The championship is scheduled to be held in Jordan from October 28 to November 2, 2026. Al-Yasiri said clubs seeking to apply should contact the Iraqi Gymnastics Federation administration for registration details. Federation officials described the tournament as an opportunity for Iraqi gymnasts to gain regional experience and strengthen the country's presence in the sport. They also said the West Asian Gymnastics Federation is working toward securing official recognition of the championship from the International Gymnastics Federation, with a decision expected in the coming days.
