BAGHDAD, Iraq โ The Iraqi Ministry of Oil on Monday denied media reports alleging that normal gasoline was being mixed with improved gasoline and sold at higher prices.
The ministry stated that all fuel types provided to citizens remain subsidized and comply with Iraqi quality standards. Officials said the mixing process conducted in refineries is a technical procedure designed to convert naphtha products during oil processing to bring gasoline in line with regulatory requirements.
According to the ministry, the method has increased gasoline production volumes to meet domestic demand. The statement noted that fuel prices in Iraq do not correspond with prices in neighboring countries or global averages.
The ministry called on media outlets to refer to official sources to prevent the spread of inaccurate information.
