BAGHDAD, Iraq โ€” The Iraqi Boxing Federation has announced the lineup of national boxers who will represent Iraq at the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan. Federation President Ali Taklif said Kazakh coach Darkhan Dyusembiyev selected three boxers across different weight categories following a training camp in Kazakhstan. Abbas Qasim will compete at 55 kilograms and Ali Qasim at 70 kilograms, according to Taklif. A final decision in the 60-kilogram category is pending between Mohammed Anwar and Mohammed Sattar, with the coach to make the call based on technical assessment. Taklif said the athletes were identified after their technical and physical performance was monitored during the Kazakhstan camp. The Iraqi national boxing team is continuing its preparations with the support of the Iraqi Olympic Committee. The federation president said the boxers have reached a strong level of preparation and are aiming to deliver solid results for Iraq at Asia's largest multi-sport event. The 20th Asian Games, known as Aichi-Nagoya 2026, are scheduled to be held in Nagoya from September 19 to October 4.
