BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraq's Military Intelligence Directorate said four people suspected of drug trafficking and distribution were arrested in Maysan province. The arrests were carried out through a joint operation by the 22nd Commando Brigade's intelligence and security section and the Maysan narcotics office, the directorate said in a statement.
According to the statement, the operation followed intelligence-based tracking launched under directives from the director of Military Intelligence to combat drug traffickers. Various quantities of narcotics were seized from the suspects, all four of whom were wanted under Articles 28 and 32 of Iraq's narcotics law.
The detainees, along with the seized materials, were handed over to the relevant authorities for legal proceedings, the directorate added. No further details were immediately available.
