Iraq men's volleyball team opens West Asian Championship against Saudi Arabia in Muscat

MUSCAT, Oman โ Iraq's men's national volleyball team will play its opening match of the second West Asian Championship against Saudi Arabia on Monday evening at the main hall of the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in the Busher area of Muscat, the Omani capital. The tournament runs through July 22.
Seven national teams are competing, including host Oman, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Syria, Lebanon, Qatar and Iraq. Qatar enters as defending champion after winning the inaugural edition last year.
Iraq has been drawn into the second group alongside Oman, Lebanon and Saudi Arabia, with the top two teams from the group advancing to the semifinals. The Iraqi delegation has said its goal is to finish among the top two in the group and reach the last four.
