BAGHDAD, Iraq — A source said Sheikh Muslih al-Zekim was detained as part of an investigation into a fight that broke out at a fuel station. The source rejected social media claims linking his arrest to corruption files or financial crimes, saying the case stems from a quarrel at the station that escalated into a brawl. According to the source, al-Zekim argued with several people at the station before the altercation, prompting security forces to intervene. Police took all parties involved into custody under standard legal procedures, the source said, adding they will remain under investigation until processing is completed. The source stressed that the case has no connection to any corruption file or individuals accused of corruption. It added that al-Zekim is expected to be released on bail once security units complete legal procedures on Wednesday.
