BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraq's General Directorate of Meteorology said on July 15, 2026, that summer heat would continue to affect the country, with clear and sunny conditions expected across all regions due to seasonal thermal patterns. Daytime temperatures, particularly around midday, were forecast to remain hot to extremely hot, while early-morning and nighttime hours were expected to bring relative relief.
According to the agency's report, central and southern provinces would record temperatures close to those of the previous day, with a slight decline expected in the north. The directorate noted that temperatures in many Iraqi cities had already crossed the 50°C threshold.
Officials urged the public to take precautions against heat-related health risks, advising residents to avoid direct sun exposure during midday hours and to maintain adequate water intake. The meteorological authority said it would continue to monitor temperature readings closely over the coming days.
