Iraq forecasts weekend showers in north, temperatures above 50°C

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraq's Meteorological Authority said on Saturday that the country would see partly cloudy skies, with showers expected in the northern and eastern regions over the weekend and temperatures climbing to between 39°C and 51°C nationwide. The agency said western areas would experience winds exceeding 30 kilometers per hour, raising light dust, while temperatures would edge up slightly compared with the previous day. On Sunday, rainfall is forecast to continue in parts of the north and east. Temperatures are expected to dip slightly in central and northern regions, while the south will see conditions similar to those recorded a day earlier. The weather on Tuesday will remain clear, with winds in central and southern areas reaching up to 30 kilometers per hour. Temperatures are expected to stay close to Monday's levels in central and northern Iraq and to fall slightly in the south, according to the authority.
