BAGHDAD, Iraq โ The Iraqi Football Federation suspended negotiations on Tuesday to renew its partnership agreement with Spain's La Liga, citing a reduced financial offer from the Spanish clubs' association.
La Liga's proposal for the new term would have lowered the partnership fee from 1.8 million euros, set under the previous agreement, to 1.1 million euros. The Iraqi federation has not announced a final decision on whether the partnership will continue.
During the 2025โ2026 season, the Iraqi federation worked with La Liga on the administration of the Iraqi Stars League, a collaboration that marked La Liga's first involvement in managing and organizing Iraqi domestic competitions at the field level.
The structure of the two organizations' partnership for the coming period remains unclear following the suspension of talks. No further details were immediately available.
