BAGHDAD, Iraq โ€” Iraqi security forces on Monday raided the home of Feras al-Hamdani, head of the Baghdad Chamber of Commerce, security sources said. The operation was carried out with coordination from the Iraqi Anti-Corruption Council, according to the same sources. Al-Hamdani is listed as a member of the chamber's board of directors, one of Baghdad's principal commercial institutions. The raid is the latest in a series of operations that security forces have carried out in cooperation with the Anti-Corruption Council, a body tasked with issuing arrest and summons warrants against officials at various levels. The anti-corruption campaign has in recent months expanded to include current and former political figures, with investigations centered on alleged irregularities and corruption involving public funds. Officials have not publicly detailed the specific allegations against al-Hamdani or the status of his case, and no further details were immediately available.
