Iraq FA overturns Takkyi win, rules 0-3 loss for jersey number violation

BAGHDAD, Iraq — The Iraqi Football Association's Disciplinary Committee has overturned Takkyi's 1-0 victory over Nuroz, ruling the result a 0-3 loss instead. The decision stems from a jersey-number breach committed by Takkyi during the third round of the Iraqi Stars League. According to the federation's written statement, Takkyi began the second half with two players wearing the number 77 shirt. The mistake was noticed after some time, and one of the players changed into a number 17 jersey and continued playing. The referee failed to detect the infringement, and assistant referee Karrar Abdulamir also did not intervene during the match. The committee cited Article 42 of the competition regulations, which bars teams from assigning the same number to more than one player and prescribes a 0-3 forfeit for any breach. Under the same ruling, assistant referee Karrar Abdulamir will not be assigned to next week's matches. The committee said the decision was approved unanimously by the parties involved, with the right of appeal reserved.
