Iraq dismisses 11 managers at southern power stations

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraq's General Electricity Production Company has dismissed 11 managers at power stations in the country's south, according to company documents. The dismissals were carried out at the Haritha and Nasiriya steam power stations in Basra and Dhi Qar, along with their associated units. Those removed included the directors of the Haritha and Nasiriya steam stations, as well as branch managers, warehouse supervisors, deputy directors and a procurement manager, the documents said. The personnel changes were carried out directly on the instructions of the Electricity Minister. No further details were immediately available on the reasons for the dismissals. The dismissals come amid a broader personnel overhaul within the ministry, with reports indicating that hundreds of managers have been removed and extensive staff changes implemented at offices across several cities in recent months.
