BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraq's Director General of Customs, Tamer Kasim Daoud, told a parliamentary committee that administrative reforms are continuing within their legal framework and that staff rotations at customs centers and border crossings are producing positive results. The meeting was held by the parliamentary Commission on Border Crossings and Protection of Domestic Products and attended by commission head Kazim al-Shammari, member Faisal al-Aisawi, Integrity Commission senior member Taha al-Daffai and Integrity Commission member Mohammed Hadi al-Shammari.
According to a statement from the Customs General Directorate, the meeting reviewed the agency's working files and steps to improve institutional performance. Daoud said the rotations were carried out under the Prime Minister's instructions and grounded in legal and administrative principles, adding that the measures were aimed at strengthening oversight at border crossings and raising performance levels.
The directorate said it would continue coordination with legislative and oversight bodies, work to increase non-oil revenues, and safeguard economic and public interests. No further details on the reform timeline were immediately available.
