BAGHDAD, Iraq โ€” The head of Iraq's Border Ports Authority, Lt. Gen. Omar al-Waili, said the agency is providing full support and all necessary facilities for inspection bodies operating across the country to carry out their work. In a statement to the state news agency, al-Waili said he visited the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control, where discussions focused on domestic materials inspection procedures in line with government directives aimed at protecting consumers. He noted that the authority's director and general managers reviewed the working methods and outputs of border port operations. Al-Waili said the Border Ports Authority, in its capacity as an inspection body, is fully backing the Central Standardization Organization's work to ensure that products fit for human consumption enter the country. He stressed that the authority is responsible for enabling all units serving at Iraq's land, sea and air border crossings to operate across a wide scope of activity. Describing the Central Standardization Organization as the backbone of inspection for all incoming goods, al-Waili said current processes are running smoothly and that the work is having a positive impact on public health.
