BASRA, Iraq โ A large oil tanker has begun unloading its cargo of imported gasoline at the Khor al-Zubair port in Basra, according to an official with Iraq's General Company for Ports. The vessel, identified as the NAVIG8 MONTIEL, was supplied by ADNOC Global Trading, a United Arab Emirates-based company.
The tanker is carrying approximately 37,500 tons of gasoline, brought in on behalf of Iraq's state oil marketer SOMO. Discharge operations are underway at berth 3 of the port.
Technical and laboratory teams at the port have begun testing the shipment to confirm it meets contract specifications and the standards set out in the official contract issued by the Ministry of Oil. Once approved, the gasoline will be transferred by pipeline to the domestic market.
The shipment is expected to contribute to Iraq's fuel supply through the Basra ports.
