Iran’s president invites Iraq’s president to Tehran

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraqi President Nizar Amidi received an official invitation from Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to visit Tehran, after the two leaders spoke by phone on Tuesday. During the call, the two presidents exchanged holiday greetings and discussed relations between Iraq and Iran. They also stressed the need to strengthen political, economic and trade cooperation and to protect their shared interests. The two sides said conflicts in the Middle East should be brought to an end through diplomatic means and underlined the importance of easing regional tensions. Amidi and Pezeshkian also called for solidarity and unity in the Islamic world.
