Iranian commander says forces seek direct clash with US troops

A senior Iranian commander said Iranian forces are prepared for a prolonged confrontation with the United States and are waiting for a direct encounter with American ground troops on the battlefield. Brigadier General Mohammad Jafar Asadi made the remarks on July 25, 2026, describing the struggle as a long war of attrition that will not be resolved quickly and requires patience and time. A former deputy head of the inspection unit of the Khatam al-Anbiya central headquarters, Asadi said Iranian forces desire to meet US troops face to face in combat. The commander added that the day Iranian forces engage American soldiers would be one that Iranian forces look forward to, and asserted that a day when US captives were paraded in Iran would be a celebration for the Iranian people. He said the fight would continue along military and ideological lines.
