Iran says communications with US continue through mediators

TEHRAN, Iran — Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said Sunday evening that correspondence with the United States is continuing and that mediators are still carrying out their tasks. He did not identify the mediators by name in the remarks. Earlier, Arab media outlets reported that Iran had told Pakistani officials it had not withdrawn from negotiations but had only suspended them. Tehran also conveyed to Pakistani counterparts that it remains ready for dialogue within the framework of a memorandum of understanding signed with Washington. The United States and Iran had exchanged responses to a proposal presented by Pakistan and Qatar aimed at restarting talks after a period of tension and escalation. According to the New York Times, the pace of military operations has slowed temporarily, though the risk of a new escalation remains.
