Iran's Revolutionary Guards say 27th wave of strikes targeted Gulf states, Jordan, Erbil

KUWAIT CITY, Kuwait — Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said on Friday afternoon that it targeted Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan and the Kurdistan Region in the 27th wave of its "Nasr 2" operation. According to a Revolutionary Guards statement carried by Tasnim news agency, three ammunition and equipment depots at Kuwait's Al-Adayri base and a surveillance tower belonging to the U.S. Fifth Fleet in Bahrain were struck. The statement said a U.S. military accommodation center, fighter jets, a Patriot air defense system and a reconnaissance balloon at Jordan's Az-Zarqa base were destroyed, and that a U.S. military accommodation center in Erbil was also targeted. The Jordanian army said its air defense systems and Royal Air Force intercepted seven missiles and six drones coming from Iran, and reported no casualties or material damage. Gulf Cooperation Council member states and Jordan issued a joint statement on Thursday condemning Iran's continued attacks against their territory. The developments come in the second week of heightened tensions between the United States and Iran, after U.S. President Donald Trump declared on July 8 that the ceasefire agreement signed on June 18 had ended.
