The iPhone 17 remained the world's best-selling smartphone in the second quarter of 2026, capturing 6 percent of global sales, according to Counterpoint Research data. The iPhone 17 Pro Max and iPhone 17 Pro took the second and third spots, giving Apple full control of the top three for a second consecutive quarter. Apple placed five models on the list of the ten best-selling smartphones, including the iPhone 17e and iPhone 16. Counterpoint analysts said updates to the iPhone 17 narrowed the gap between the standard and Pro versions, while trade-in programs and financing options supported sales of higher-end devices. The global smartphone market contracted by roughly 11 percent year on year during the quarter, yet Apple sustained consumer demand. Samsung's Galaxy S26 Ultra climbed four places to fourth in the global ranking, improving five spots over its predecessor and becoming the top-selling Android model. The device accounted for more than half of Galaxy S26 series sales in the period. Apple and Samsung each placed five models in the top ten. Those ten smartphones together accounted for 26 percent of global smartphone sales.
