Police seize witchcraft materials hidden in vehicle in Babylon

BABYLON, Iraq — Police in Babylon said they seized witchcraft and fortune-telling materials hidden in a vehicle and arrested the suspected occupant, who resides in Najaf. According to a written statement from the Babylon Police Directorate, officers at the Selam Şenun checkpoint found the materials concealed in the vehicle’s wheel area. The materials were confiscated and legal proceedings were opened against the suspect, the statement said. In separate operations, officers at the Muhammad Maan checkpoint detained a motorcycle rider whose vehicle lacked documentation and handed him over to the relevant police station. Teams at the Martyr Captain Firas Taha al-Azzawi checkpoint also seized a vehicle bearing an enforcement seizure mark issued by the Babylon Traffic Branch. The police directorate said security measures remain in place at checkpoints across the city.
