Hashd al-Shaabi beats Maysan 94-79 to finish third in Iraqi basketball Super League

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Hashd al-Shaabi's basketball team defeated Maysan 94-79 in the Iraqi Super League third-place playoff, finishing the season in third position. The game was played on Sunday evening at 6:00 p.m. at the Armenian Sports Club hall in Baghdad. Ala Jabbar, a board member of the Iraqi Basketball Federation, said the match featured strong competition and a high level of performance from both sides. Jabbar added that the federation will hold an extraordinary meeting in the coming days to set the venue, tip-off time and date for the final between Defense Aviation and Zakho. Defense Aviation advanced to the final after beating Hashd al-Shaabi twice in the semifinal series. Zakho reached the championship match by defeating Maysan in two games. The federation official said arrangements are ongoing to ensure that all remaining matches in the league are completed according to the scheduled program.
