Google is redesigning its search bar into an AI assistant capable of executing complex tasks on behalf of users, including making restaurant reservations, tracking news, and contacting businesses. The company will launch 'Gemini Spark,' a personal AI agent for premium subscribers in the United States starting next week. By this summer, U.S. users will gain access to always-on AI agents designed to manage shopping lists, schedule events, and provide news alerts. To accommodate more complex queries, Google plans to expand the physical dimensions of the search box. The company described these modifications as the most significant update to its search functionality in 25 years. These developments follow rapid growth in adoption, with the Gemini AI app reaching 900 million monthly users and the AI-powered search feature, AI Mode, surpassing 1 billion monthly users globally.
