BAGHDAD, Iraq โ A funeral was held at the Hashd al-Shaabi media directorate headquarters on Palestine Street in Baghdad for members killed in joint US-Saudi airstrikes, with several Iraqi armed groups reported to be in attendance. Among the dead were Hashd al-Shaabi members alongside Iranian nationals, according to the source.
US Central Command said earlier that American and Saudi warplanes conducted precision strikes against weapons and logistics facilities belonging to Iran-linked groups in several areas of eastern Iraq. The command did not immediately provide further details.
Hashd al-Shaabi said at least 20 of its members were killed and 32 others wounded in the strikes, adding that the figures were not final. Iran's Mehr News Agency reported that four members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps also died, identifying them as Ali Asgar Astane, Abolfazl Muttaqi, Morteza Akbari and Amir Abbas Derhem Forouh, all from the city of Kashan. No further information was immediately available on potential retaliation or diplomatic responses.
