BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Authorities at the Safwan border crossing have seized four cargo trucks found to have violated import regulations and caused public financial losses through forged currency values and certificates of origin, the crossing's directorate announced.
According to the directorate, three of the trucks were stopped at a checkpoint outside the customs zone while transporting iron and spare machinery parts. Inspections revealed discrepancies and tampering with the declared currency values.
A fourth vehicle, intercepted inside the customs control area, was carrying steam and gas turbine oil. Officials said the truck's official certificate of origin had been altered and falsified.
The directorate said legal records had been prepared for the seized cargo, with the trucks and related documents referred to the Safwan Customs Police Center. Legal proceedings have been initiated against those responsible.
