Former Iraqi lawmaker faces corruption, asset concealment allegations in Tikrit

TIKRIT, Iraq — Allegations of corruption and illicit wealth have been raised against former Iraqi lawmaker Adnan al-Jumayli, with claims that luxury vehicles and real estate tied to him were registered in the names of relatives. According to the claims, a raid or inspection at a Tikrit home belonging to Mustafa Adnan Mawlood al-Tikriti, the brother of al-Jumayli's wife, uncovered a fleet of high-end vehicles: a Maybach, two 2026-model Cadillacs, a 2026 Toyota Land Cruiser, three 2026 Chevrolet Tahoes and a 2026 GMC. Sources said the cars are believed to be owned by al-Jumayli but registered under his relative's name to conceal the true ownership. The same accounts said a luxury wedding and reception hall called "Lavivora," built on a plot purchased on Tikrit's main avenue, was later transferred into Mustafa Mawlood al-Tikriti's name. Citing suspicions that the assets' actual ownership was being hidden, the sources called for an examination of financial records and property titles. The report urged Iraqi oversight bodies, led by the Iraqi Commission on Integrity, to open legal proceedings into the matter. No further details were immediately available.
