BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Security restrictions prohibiting fishing and civilian access at Amirli Lake, located east of Salah al-Din, have remained in effect for 18 months. Amirli District Commissioner Meysam Nuri stated that the measures were implemented to ensure the safety of civilians.
Nuri explained that the ban is necessary due to the vast and remote nature of the area surrounding the lake. He noted that the current security situation in the region remains calm and stable.
Local officials reported that there are ongoing calls to re-evaluate the restrictions. These requests aim to find a balance between maintaining security and supporting the economic activities of the local population.
