ANBAR, Iraq โ Anbar's government spokesperson said the first phase of Anbar International Airport has been fully completed by a Turkish company, with the project encompassing security fencing, thermal cameras, towers and internal roads.
The second phase includes a 4,000-meter runway, passenger terminal and arrival facilities, with designs for the initial operating plan already prepared. The airport is designed to handle approximately 700,000 passengers and 100,000 tons of cargo annually.
Spokesperson Mueyyed al-Dulaimi said Anbar has not received budget allocations for the past two years, which delayed the second phase of work. He said the project is among the strategic initiatives for both the province and the country.
Al-Dulaimi said the second phase can restart once funding is provided.
