Fire rips through commercial warehouse in Duhok, owner says $2 million in damage

DUHOK, Iraq — A large fire broke out Sunday at a commercial warehouse in Duhok, in the Kurdistan Region, with the owner estimating damage at around $2 million. Warehouse owner Ferhad Muhammad said the cause of the blaze remained unknown. He told reporters that flames rose suddenly and engulfed both floors of the building. The lower level stored fruit juice and energy drinks, while the upper floor held detergent, diapers, shampoo, soap and other cleaning supplies. Muhammad said firefighters responded to the scene but struggled to bring the fire under control due to its scale. No deaths or injuries were reported, and all workers escaped safely, according to the owner. He put the material losses at roughly $2 million.
