Gunman on motorcycle kills one in central Kirkuk shooting

KIRKUK, Iraq — An unidentified gunman on a motorcycle opened fire on a parked black Chevrolet Silverado in the Aviation Square area of central Kirkuk on Sunday night, killing the driver, according to security sources. The victim was identified as 41-year-old Shivan Halis, a resident of the Rahim Aweh neighborhood in Kirkuk. Security forces were dispatched to the scene and established a security cordon, preventing civilians from approaching the area, the sources said. The gunman fled and has not been identified. Forensic teams collected fingerprints and other evidence at the scene, and the body was transferred to the forensic medicine department. No further details were immediately available on a possible motive.
