Fire breaks out at municipal fuel station in Sulaymaniyah

SULAYMANIYAH, Iraq — A fire broke out at a fuel station inside a municipal building in Sulaymaniyah on the main road between Sulaymaniyah and Tasluja, according to a local correspondent. Firefighters worked to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to other sections of the station, while security forces were deployed around the site. Initial reports indicated no casualties. The station supplies fuel to vehicles used for official municipal duties in the city, the correspondent said. The cause of the fire had not yet been determined. The incident was the second major fire recorded in Sulaymaniyah within 24 hours. The previous night, a fire broke out at a fuel depot in the Tanjaro district, where more than 30 tankers, including at least 25 loaded with gasoline, and gas tankers caught fire. Preliminary figures indicated that more than 3 million liters of gasoline burned and 22 people were injured. Further details on both incidents were not immediately available.
