BASRA, Iraq โ A fire broke out on Thursday at the roof eaves of Fayaz Hospital in central Basra, prompting an evacuation of patients and medical staff, local authorities said. Basra Fire Directorate teams were dispatched to the scene and focused their efforts on the roof area to prevent the flames from spreading to the main sections of the facility.
Hospital staff and patients were evacuated as firefighters worked to contain the blaze. Officials said an investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the fire.
No deaths or injuries were reported, according to authorities. Hospital management said medical services at the facility will be reorganized based on the situation on the ground.
